Do you long to capture the heart of your child?

If your house is like mine, bedtime is such a special time of the day. Kids are winding down, the world is becoming quiet, and families are often home and together. Bedtime is a great time to read stories, but sometimes it can be a good time to get into the brain of your young child.

Kids have the most fun imaginations, and they can say things that totally surprise you. Last night I asked my five year old what instrument he would like to play. His choice? The harp. I didn’t really even know he knew that much about the harp. Who knew?

Thinking, reasoning, and problem solving skills are so important to develop in your child, but these can even be exercised in a fun way – like with silly questions that are often very far beyond reality.

Try something new at bedtime tonight. Ask some of these questions and see how much you really know about that active mind of your young child. You can actually ask these questions again and again as they usually answer them differently each time!

This is a great list of questions to ask to not only foster a love for learning in your child, but also to spend some intentional time together. Bedtime is one of the best times of day to focus a few moments on getting to know your child.

Included is a printable version of these questions on cards for ease of use. They are business card size, and you can print them off, cut them, and then even laminate them if you desire. I LOVE my laminator…it is my best friend, especially with creating busy bags for my preschoolers and also homeschooling. Here is the one I have:
