Basic White Bread Dough (using your bread maker!)

If you are looking for a simple and basic all around white bread dough, then I’ve got just what you need. It gets even better when I tell you that it can be made in the bread maker.

Eating a lot of homemade bread items are a major part of feeding my family on a budget, so having a solid recipe for white bread dough is essential.

The things you can do with white dough are limitless, and cinnamon bread, or what we call oozy-gooey goodness bread is just one example.

White bread dough can be used to make numerous kinds of rolls, bread in all shapes and sizes, things like our much loved cheesy bread, and so much more.

This recipe is made as a two pound loaf in my bread maker. Utilizing my bread maker is such a time saver, and it really does a great job most times.

For this recipe you will need:

  • 1 1/2 warm cups water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dry milk
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Place ingredients in breadmaker in the order given and set your bread maker on the dough setting. Or, you can make an amazing loaf of white bread right there in your bread maker!

    1. I would think so, Zori. To me, the dry milk just adds a little weight or thickness to the finished product. I really don’t think it would do much to leave it out. I’ve not tried it, but I do play around with recipes and if it were me, I would try it.
