Here’s my story about how this course has become a team building experience in my marriage, and today is the last day to save!

I have been married for over 20 years, and it still amazes me how my husband and I are the perfect example of “opposites attract.” For this reason, it is often hard to get my husband on board with some of my lofty ideas.

We are opposite in nearly every way including the way that our minds work, the way we react to challenges and struggles, the way we handle finances, and the way we organize our time and plan for the future and so many more.

We have learned to use these differences to our advantage over the years, but our innate differences are still there. We have also learned to find common ground and to work with one another in many ways, which is easier said than done at times.

Between the two of us, I am the thinker, the planner, the visionary, and the one who figures out how to put things into motion. Sometimes my husband is a bit reluctant to embrace my visions including when we first started on our frugal journey many years ago.

In general, I think his reluctance to these things stems from his need or want to see results right away. In many things, results do take time. I have helped him see this over the years, but again his natural tendency is to shy away from coming on board to anything that has more delayed results.

The spending freezes we have taken have been met with a bit of hesitancy on his part, but now that we’ve frozen any and all extraneous spending for a month or more at least seven times, he has gotten a bit better at jumping on board.

I know I am not alone with a husband who is a bit reluctant to jump on board with the idea of spending no money for an entire month because I had several within my community during the Living Well Spending Zero challenge this past October who faced the same challenge.

My husband is also not a fan of new things. He likes routine, familiar things, and sameness. Of course once he gets started he is usually good to go, but he is very different from me and my jump in, take charge personality.

When I first heard of Crystal Paine’s new course, Make Over Your Year, I was instantly intrigued because this is a course that both she and her husband, Jesse, are doing together.

Why was this so exciting to me?

Because I knew that with her husband involved, my husband would most likely be willing and excited to jump on board right away. If another guy is telling my husband how to improve, he is all ears. Of course my husband doesn’t have anything against learning from women, but in my husband’s mind, men just get instant credibility whereas he needs to warm up to hearing things from a woman’s perspective.

This course came at the perfect time for us, too, since we are really needing to do a regroup and a refocus as we brace ourselves for new and exciting adventures this year…a new baby, a new career, and a new place to live.

Guess what – I was right in how my husband would react.

When I told my husband about the course, he was actually excited about it!

My husband jumped right on board!

My husband does like having a plan, at least as long as someone else helps him come up with the plan, so this course is the perfect solution.

Not sure how your husband would react to this? The beginning section of this course even provides you with a handout called How Do I Get My Spouse On Board? Awesome.

This four-week course has a written handbook, and each week includes worksheets that allow you to tailor what you are learning to your life as well as live video coaching sessions that last an entire hour including 30 minutes of Q&A with Jesse and Crystal.

This course has taught us how to:

  • Dream big dreams
  • Set realistic goals
  • Set priorities
  • Create action plans to accomplish the dreams and goals you’ve outlined

and also to

  • Accomplish these things within the reality of having a family
  • Implement the power of being accountable
  • Keep going when you want to quit!

In reality, covering topics such as working within the context of having a family the common obstacles are met head on. This is very effective for both my husband and I. After all, how often have you read a book or something and are left thinking:

That’s great, but there is no way that I can apply that to my life!

This was just not the case here for both me and my husband! The course is thorough, yet also to the point, easy to follow, and engaging, especially with the videos.

An incredible value at $29, but beginning today and continuing through Monday, March 21, you can save $4 as the course is just $25 right now!!!

If you have been looking for something that will help you accomplish great things with the added bonus of being able to get your husband on board with you, then this is exactly what you need.
