I find that my water intake ebbs and flows, often depending on how busy I get with life. The thing is, when I’m not getting enough water I can totally tell. I don’t feel as well, I don’t have as much energy, and I even find that I get sick more often when I have been in a water drinking slump.

There are so many benefits of drinking water, but here are the ones I find to be the most beneficial in my life.

Here are five reasons you should be drinking a gallon of water a day.

It clears up your skin

I listed this one first because this is the benefit that I appreciate most. I don’t have nice skin, and it is the first thing that feels the affect of not drinking enough water.

Your skin is actually made up of 64% water, so it only makes sense that enough water will help your skin look its best. Why spend all that money on face creams and things to give your skin that healthy glow when a lack of enough water may be to blame.

Drinking more water may be the only magical skin cream you need!

You will have more energy

I totally find this to be true, especially as a runner. I have seen a direct correlation between how sluggish I feel while out for a run and how much water I drank (or didn’t drink) in the few days before my run.

I also find that if I’m just struggling to get through the day, I haven’t been drinking enough water that day.

I think out of all these benefits, this one is the easiest to see in a tangible way.

Need a kick in the pants in your day? Go drink a full glass of water!

Doesn’t fatten up your belly

With so many energy drinks, shots, bars, and more, these also bring all kinds of unwanted, unneeded, and unnecessary calories. Water does quite the opposite.

Water truly is a guilt free energy booster that is completely calorie free!

Keeps the aches and pains away

I am amazed at how much better I feel just in the basic tasks I do when I am getting enough water. It helps with join pain, back pain, and in my case, migraines.

I am susceptible to migraines, and I can nearly always trace them back to not getting enough water.

If you are someone who struggles with regular aches and pains, try increasing the amount of water you drink. It could be a super simple solution.

Flush out the bad

Because your body is made up of more than 60% water, it needs enough water to keep things moving. This is a great tip especially when you are feeling sick.

Without enough water, everything just sits in your body, but all the sickness, toxins, and unhealthy things that we put in our bodies every day need to be moved out as soon as possible.

Drinking water is the simplest way to do this.
Wanting to live a healthy life is such a great goal. Drinking water is one of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to do this. In fact, it just might be the thing that gives you the most bang for your buck!
