walk in the wordWow. Yesterday was a roller coaster for my husband and I. We had fun with our boys at a local baseball game during the first half of the day, and then we came home to get a few things done.

Plans quickly changed when we discovered a small oversight on my husband’s part that could have changed the plans of moving South next year in a major way. Plans that have been in the works for over five years.

At first we panicked. We were negative, and we were sad and frustrated that a minor detail could derail everything in a moment.

But. Then I gathered my head and came up with what we needed to do next.

Long story short, the thing that was supposed to derail us was taken off the table completely in a way that we can only see as God.

We experienced a lesson in perseverance, and then a lesson in faith and in the power of God since we executed our plan, and then I asked the prayer warriors in my life to pray that God would bless those plans.

How many times in life do we reach a roadblock and want to give up? If you are anything like me, you do this, at least initially, more than you would like.

This is a great verse for kids to learn, but it is also a timely reminder for me. No matter what we face. No matter how things look. Come up with a plan that will keep you moving forward (at least hopefully) and execute it. There is no sense in remaining in a state of panic and surrendering to your circumstances.

Today’s verse is:

James 1:2-3

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
