weekly spring cleaninHappy Monday and Happy Memorial Day! I am so glad that yesterday is over. I had been having a tough week, but I had no idea why. Exhausted, feeling nauseous on and off, and just feeling all around just yucky with some abdominal pain.

Yesterday, I finally realized what might be going on when I took my temperature and discovered that I was actually running a fever. I have frequent issues with urinary tract infections, and keep tests on home for that reason. It couldn’t have been more positive for infection.

While waiting to hear back from my dr. my fever rose to 103 in just that short time. On my way to the store to get my antibiotic I actually had to call my mom because I was so worried that I would fall asleep. My body was just done.

I slept most of the day and night once I got home and amazingly I still feel exhausted. Clearly, I waited too long to figure out what was going on.

This is the reason I didn’t get the post up in our series for the month of May. So, please accept my apology for that. My plan is to get both yesterday’s post and today’s post up in the series to get caught back up. We’ll see how I hold up.

So, on to the weekly spring cleaning project.

Last week was hugely productive for me, and I feel really good about it because I tackled two huge projects that were among the ones I had been putting off because they were so big. They were also those things I hate doing. FirIMG_3747st is the linen closet in my bathroom. The close up is of many of our over the counter medications and all of our first aid supplieIMG_3746_2s (with a paramedic husband we have many of these).

These supplies were previously kept in our basement bathroom, but my kids are notorious for just rifling through it all looking for what they need while leaving a huge mess in their wake. My three year old was forever getting in it, too, just to make a mess. The problems should be solved now.

Next I tackled my storage room. Remember what it looked like before? IMG_3679

What a mess! I love having a storage room and places to put everything. The problem is that everything is so tightly packed that things need to be unpacked to get to other things. Of course no one takes the time to put those things back, and this is the result. See it now?IMG_3687 It took an entire afternoon while my husband had the kids out of the house, but it got done. I have again gone over the “rules” with everyone, so we shall see if the previous disaster can be avoided. Things are better organized, so it should be easier for people to get what they need without having to dig quite as much.

Also, I filed all of the papers in my house that needed to be filed and weeded out things I no longer needed to keep. I followed the guidelines I spoke of here regarding what to keep and what to toss.

This week, it will be getting all the kids’ summer clothes out and organized with their winter clothes put away. If that sounds simple, it is not, and it is the thing I hate the most. With seven kids now, it is a huge undertaking!

This would include putting a bunch of baby things away, which always makes me sad. I’m so sentimental about these things!

What do you have planned for a spring cleaning project this week?
