Summer. Life moves slower, time is more plentiful, and the days never seem to end. Summer is the perfect time to be intentional in building faith and in building relationships while having some fun, too.

How about a game of hide and go seek today? Even this can be a faith building experience for your family!

hide and seek

Gather your family and head outside, and, wouldn’t it be fun to add some extra neighborhood kids today?! What an opportunity to be a light in the world around you! Get your group together, and play hide and go seek for awhile.

When your game is done, get your Bible and read Psalm 27:8, which says, My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.

Discuss how your game of hide and seek is the opposite of how it is when we seek the Lord. He does not hide from us. He is there for us whenever we seek Him, whenever we call on Him, and until we do, He patiently waits. Sometimes He pursues us with his soft, still voice whether through the Bible, through others that he puts in our lives, or through the experiences that come our way, and sometimes we see Him in the midst of the storms that come our way.

The passage talks of seeking God. Talk about ways that we seek God. We read the Bible, we go to church, we read inspirational books, we worship in song, and we have the incredible power of hiding the words of the Bible in our hearts through memorizing scripture. This is such a powerful tool that helps us seek His face whenever we bring to mind the verses that are engraved upon our heart.

Close your time in prayer thanking God that He is patient in waiting for us, the He shows His face to us whenever we seek Him, and that He is there for us whenever we need Him. Thank Him that we are never alone. Finally, thank Him for summer, for family, for friends, and for fun times spent together.
