5 things i love this weekIt’s Sunday again, and we are nearly halfway through July. So sad. Summer is always so busy for us that I wish I had more time to enjoy it.

We didn’t have kids with any activities anywhere yesterday, but I did take my oldest four to a friend’s farm to help bail hay. My goodness! They got a workout. I’ve got some tired and sore kids today. My oldest son had sweat absolutely pouring from his face and head. This is a good thing. I am a firm believer in hard work.

This week I am again focusing on five things that I have loved. How do I decide on these things, you may ask?

This has really been a great exercise for me. I have begun taking the time to really pause more throughout the busyness of my days. It takes a little bit of practice, but once you have done it for maybe a week or so, it really does become a habit. I watch for something that makes me smile or laugh, and I pause there. I drink in the moment, I savor it, I put it in slow motion.

Here are my five “pausing” moments that I have loved this week.

  1. Pushing my son on a tire swing. This was the first time he had ever been on one, and he was so fascinated by it. He squealed, laughed, and kept asking me to push him over and over again. The smile on his face was truly priceless, and it was one of those times when seeing the world through the eyes of my child was so much fun!
  2. My nighttime run. I rarely run in the evening, but this week I had no choice. I REALLY didn’t want to go, which is perhaps why this was such a standout experience to me. I enjoyed myself so much (aside from swallowing nine bugs) that I even went an extra mile and a half. I just didn’t want the run to end, which hardly every happens. Usually I can’t WAIT to be done! I have such a love/hate relationship with running…IMG_4102_2
  3. My dryer. Can you believe it?! We found time to fix the dryer this week. It was an easy fix, too, which I new it would be, but it was a matter of talking to someone at the appliance store to confirm what it was, taking out the old part, driving to the store to get the new part, and coming home and putting it in. We are now experts in replacing dryer coils.
  4. Warmer weather. We had a few weeks of unseasonably cold weather here in the mitten, which is such a drag to me. Wearing jeans in the summer is like a crime in my book. Summer fades so fast – fall will be upon us here in a short six weeks. When it is summer, I want it to FEEL like it is summer. So this week I was able to put my shorts on again!
  5. Good friends for my kids. My kids have had a ton of fun with friends this week, and good friends that we as moms feel are a good influence on our kids are such a blessing. When our kids have friends we don’t like it is the opposite feeling, but I am so blessed that my kids have ALL great friends!

This week is a crazy busy week for me. I have kids who want to have friends over…which is always such a struggle for me because I have a houseful already, but, I am happy that my kids want to have friends over and don’t want to squelch that desire. I am pulling a blog post together about this idea this week.

What did you love this week?
