I have the most amazing recipe to share today, and I am so excited because it will rock your world! I hadn’t really played around with my instant pot for breakfast too much, I’m not really sure why. And then I made this cinnamon roll oatmeal, and my life has never been the same. I am very picky about oatmeal, I admit, but I think I just might love this oatmeal more than my kids – and they ask for it every day!

With only $350 to spend on groceries every month and 8 kids who need breakfast, I am forever on the lookout for frugal, healthy, and homemade options for breakfast. But, they also have to be easy. Otherwise, I end up going to the default of boxed cereal. Because it takes a full two boxes to feed all my kids breakfast every meal, you can see how the cereal option isn’t conducive to my tight grocery budget.

Oatmeal is so healthy and so frugal that it is something I try to tap into whenever I can. And with this recipe, I have struck pure gold, especially since it’s made in the Instant Pot, which means it can be ready in a flash.

This recipe is so easy to throw together, your house will smell amazing all day, and because it is healthy you can feel good about serving it to your family.

Here is my amazing recipe for Instant Pot cinnamon roll oatmeal (and it does taste EXACTLY like a cinnamon roll!!!)

This is the Instant Pot I have. Just click on it for details.

For this recipe you will need:

Oats:

  • 4 cups quick cooking oats
  • 4 cups milk, any kind
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 beaten eggs
  • 4 Tablespoons flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • pinch of salt

Icing:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (you could also use vanilla)

Combine all ingredients well and put in your Instant Pot. Make sure the steam valve is sealed, choose the manual setting, and adjust time to 40 minutes. At the end of the 40 minutes, allow it to do a natural release (I’m guessing you could also do a quick release, but I just love to let the smell linger).

Top each serving with a healthy drizzle of the icing and a little shake of cinnamon.

Perfection.

  1. Would the cook time still be the same if I made only half a recipe for 2 people?
    Love my instant pot!!

    1. Hi! I’m not really sure. I would think it would be less, but I’ve never made a lesser amount. Sorry!

  2. Have you ever substituted old fashion oats with this recipe instead for the quick? Do you think it would be successful?

    1. I have not. Honestly I have no idea how they really differ so I really have no idea if you could substitute one for the other.
