walk in the wordWe are all called to forgive, and it is rarely easy, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have to heed this command.

If you have never heard Matthew West’s song, “Forgiveness,” it is a great song, and the story behind it is even better.

The  concept I like recalling the most about forgiveness, is that the one it actually benefits is the one who forgives. Anger, hurt, and bitterness are toxic to hold on to, and removing them from your life in the form of forgiveness is so freeing. Forgiveness also doesn’t mean that you agree with the behavior that you are choosing to overlook –  it is just that – choosing to overlook an offense, never to look back on it again.

Being part of a family, especially when that family is large, means that there will be a lot of forgiveness needed since so often conflict and hurt is a product of misunderstanding in the first place.

Are you holding on to hurt? Are you holding a grudge? Today would be a great day to let that go, and focusing on this verse is a great way to get started!

Matthew 6:15

But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
