The weekend is a great time to catch up on some movie watching as a family. The mornings and days in general are more relaxed, there are generally less places everyone needs to go, and both adults and kids alike are more than ready for a break. Altogether, these reasons call for plenty of movie nights.

family friendly movies

We are pretty selective in what we watch, and they have to be movies that will at least somewhat entertain a 12 year difference from my oldest to my youngest viewer. If the storyline goes over the head of the younger ones that’s ok, and if at other times the older ones are left a little bored if the movie is geared more toward the younger ones.

Here are the ones that are the crowd pleasers around our house. They are all more than family friendly by our standards unless otherwise noted. The majority, if not all of them are approved by the older kids in my family.

  1. Dolphin Tale
  2. Dolphin Tale 2
  3. Heaven is For Real
  4. God’s Not Dead
  5. Night at the Museum (all three)
  6. Shrek (all of them)
  7. RV
  8. Mary Poppins
  9. E.T.
  10. Brave

Make the most of the weekend nights by grabbing a great movie to watch together. Of course a movie just isn’t a movie without some popcorn and an assortment of movie candy. Having a regular movie night is a great way to make some memories.
