For this recipe you will need:

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/3 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/3 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons flaxseed meal (we love Bob’s Red Mill flaxseed meal. You can find it below! Just click on it!

  • resealable gallon-sized plastic bag

First, you will be creating the “brownie mix” by combining just the dry ingredients and putting them all in the resealable bags. Then, you store them in your pantry until you are ready to bake them, just like you would store the prepackaged brownie mix you buy from the store.

To begin, take your plastic bag and write this listing of dry ingredients. Next, list the rest of the recipe including what wet ingredients to add and the baking instructions.

This way, these mixes will be easy to make when you are ready, and you will be able to restock using the same bags as you empty them.

To prepare the “mix,” combine all of the dry ingredients and put them in your resealable plastic bags, assembly line style. I like to make four of five at a time.

When you want to make the brownies, add the following:

Wet ingredients:

  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil (although I use canola most times)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

To bake:

Mix everything together and bake in a 9×13 greased pan at 350 degrees for 22 minutes (you may need to vary this for your oven, but mine is exactly 22 minutes).

My family loves these brownies with this healthy twist. In fact, they don’t even know that there is anything healthy about them – but I do!

Brownies with a little less guilt. What could be better?
