Looking for an inexpensive alternative to Starbucks iced coffee? Have I got the solution for you, and it couldn’t be easier!
I love coffee, but on really hot days in the summer, I just can’t drink it hot. I fell in love with the Starbucks iced coffees when I got them for free with register rewards from Walgreens, but when they aren’t free I’m just too frugal cheap to buy them. This sent me on a quest to come up with my own version…and I finally got it!
For this recipe you will need:
- 8 ounces of strong coffee
- 4 tablespoons of a milk type product (I like half and half)
- 2 tablespoons of flavored syrup (I use this vanilla Torani syrup Torani® Vanilla Syrup (750 mL /25.4 oz )
- ice
That’s it! Easy so far, right? Brew your 8 ounce cup of coffee a bit stronger than how you would normally brew it just for drinking. Once that is done, add your milk product and flavored syrup. This is the syrup I used for this recipe, but I have also done the same thing with hazelnut syrup and caramel syrup. All of them are wonderful. You can find them here Torani Hazelnut Syrup, 750 ml and here Torani Classic Caramel Syrup, 750 ml
.
Actually, these syrups are a cheaper alternative to flavored coffee creamers when you are drinking your coffee hot, too. I don’t buy flavored creamers anymore and opt for these more economical syrups along with a splash of milk.
What about the ice? I also use 4 pieces of ice from my standard ice maker. Give it a good stir and enjoy!
