The current count is four kids down, three still standing.  Interestingly, it is all of my girls and then the baby who are down.  My oldest son likes to say that it is “the girl sickness.”  It hasn’t been fun, although it rarely is, but high fevers, body aches, exhaustion, and headaches that all last for days have been so trying.

Of course we had all kinds of things planned for this weekend, and we all have been disappointed with the way things have gone since I had visions of getting everything caught up before another Monday sweeps us into the hustle and bustle of another week.

IMG_3137_2That didn’t happen, and neither did playing outside, playing games or watching movies, at least not as a family since the sick kids have had movies going for days.

There are so many times that life gets in the way of plans, isn’t there?  I think the more people in your family, the more these things tend to happen.  I guess it only makes sense.

When kids, or even I, get disappointed with things that didn’t happen as they should, I have a favorite phrase that I like to say.  Somehow to me, it seems to speak grace and understanding.

When someone says things like, “But I wanted to…” I respond with this

that's just not the way things went today
