5 things I love this weekI love taking the time to reflect back on my week. For several weeks now, as part of living intentionally I have been pausing at various times throughout the week to just savor a few things that really speak to me. Things that touch me in a special way. These are moments that I try to put in slow motion. I imagine myself really drawing from these memories when I am old with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

This week was kind of a blur since we were getting ready for vacation, and we didn’t really even commit to taking this time off until Thursday, which was the day before we left! It is so hard when you have older kids who are involved in activities. We have yet to have a week this summer that is free from activities, and this past week and this coming week is no exception.

Either way, since my husband still has one more week off from school, we decided to take this time off. and just make it work.

Despite the craziness of this past week, I was able to pause time for at least five different moments that really spoke to me. These are the five things that I love this week.

  1. Summer nights. I have noticed that it gets dark earlier, and that it also stays dark longer in the morning since the seasons are getting ready to change again. It is hard to believe that next month we will be welcoming fall, although the nights have gotten so much cooler here so in many ways it almost feels fall-like. I love warm summer evenings and every last minute of daylight that we get. Every night this past week, I sat out on my deck for as little as five minutes just to close my eyes and breathe in the fresh air.5 Things I love
  2. An evening run. It had been more than a month since I had run outside, but this past Thursday was the night. I got out later than I had wanted, which meant that some of my run was spent in the dark, but it was such a nice time. Just when I get to about mile five and needed some extra gas, there were some sprinklers that were watering over the sidewalk. That refreshment was absolutely wonderful. In those moments the coolness spread relief, and they gave me just what I needed to get through the last couple of miles. It was a great night.5 things i love
  3. My husband being off school. I have spoken numerous times about how busy he normally is, but this time off has been so needed.  It has been years since he had this much time off in a row. He is still working, but he is only working 40 hours a week and without school. As we were getting ready for this vacation he actually did all of the food packing from the list I made, which was so amazing. For a family of our size, the food is always an enormous job, and it was so wonderful to have that job taken from me this time. For the first time ever, I think!
  4. Amazing people to network with. I have met some of the most amazing people since I have become a blogger this time around, and it has been wonderful. Not only are they there to offer help, but they are there to offer support as well.
  5. My in-laws. They so generously open their home to us whenever we need it whether it is to escape my deathly ill husband as we did earlier this spring or just for some rest and relaxation as we are taking right now. Taking in our bustling bunch is quite an undertaking, and I am so grateful for in-laws who are so willing to to that. They live on a lake, and it is always so much fun!5 things i love
