As moms, our days are so long. Like me, you’re probably juggling multiple things all at the same time. You probably have a variety of different roles throughout the day – cook, house cleaner, organizer, laundry person, chauffeur, parent, psychologist, and more. As a homeschooling mom of 9, I’m no stranger to being all things to all kinds of people during the day – and the exhaustion that comes with it. Over the years, I’ve learned to see the benefit of getting up early, which means getting up before my kids. Not only does it give me a moment or two of peace, it also helps me get a grip on my day before my day starts yanking me around. Maybe like I have, you’ve also felt the out of control, chaotic, and frustrating moments that come when you aren’t getting up early enough to be awake and out of bed before you kids. Those precious moments in the morning might be few some days, but they are truly priceless. But what if you’re not a morning person? What if getting up early just isn’t your thing? I’ve got some super simple tips to share how moms can get up early – even if you hate mornings.

Before you go any further, think about how awesome it would be to actually know what time you need to get up in order to have a day with less stress, frustration, exhaustion, and overwhelm! If this sounds good to you, you need our Waking Time Worksheet! Plug in the things you need to get done to figure out what time you should get up in the morning. Just tell us where to send it!

For some people, getting up early is just easier. Some moms are just morning people, but maybe this isn’t you.

That’s ok…I’ve figured out some things moms like you can do to get up early…even if you’re not a morning person!

Have some time to relax and unwind before bed

“But, I’m so busy during the day,” you might say. Finding the time to relax and unwind at the end of the night might sound like a dream, but if you want to get up early it needs to be your reality.

When you have the time you need to relax and catch your breath at night, you’ll fall asleep faster and you’ll sleep better. And, this makes getting up earlier in the morning easier.

Get to bed early so you can get up early

I know it can be tempting to try to burn the midnight oil. And, I’m not really even saying you can’t. But, if you struggle with getting up in the morning you need to start getting to bed earlier than you have been.

I am not really a morning person by nature, but I’m not really a night person either. I’m kind of in between. This means that I still try to push myself too far at night, and I always pay for it in the morning.

I’m also kind of a morning person meaning that I don’t hate mornings, but if I’m up too late the night before it doesn’t really matter.

When you don’t get to bed early enough you set yourself up for a much harder time in the morning.

Have an alarm that actually wakes you up

Some alarms are just too quiet and calming. While it might be nice to wake up to ocean waves lapping on a beach, if it doesn’t wake you up to the point where you can get out of bed it’s not the right alarm for you.

I suggest that you find a song that makes you want to get up and move. This works wonders when it comes to helping you wake up early.

Do something you like right away

If you have something you like doing scheduled for first thing, you’re much more likely to get out of bed at the right time.

In order for this to really be effective, the things you do first thing need to be things you can only do if you get up on time.

    Ahhhhh.

Now that changes things just a bit, doesn’t it.

When doing something you enjoy is conditional, you will typically do anything in your power to make that happen.

Get up at the right time when you want to get up early

This starts with knowing what time is the right time to get up. This is exactly why I created my waking time worksheet.

    Get yours HERE

I actually created this worksheet for myself so I would know what time I needed to get up in the morning.

But when I started sharing the formula to figure out your waking time with others, I realized that this formula worked for others, too.

There is no one right time for everyone to get up. Not all moms need to get up at the same time in order to get up early.

You need to know what getting up early means for you.

This worksheet will tell you what time you need to get up to get up early.

Moms who want to get up early need this shortcut for their kids

Moms often struggle with kids who get up at the crack of dawn.

    Is this you?

It can be so hard to keep kids in bed, especially when it gets light out early.

    Enter this alarm clock HERE

It has been a life saver for moms for years.

    It’s pretty much magic, actually.

This clock allows you to set the time your kids are allowed to get up so. Combine that with you getting up at the right time and will find yourself being a mom who gets up early – early enough for what you need.

Get a few outfits that make you feel pretty

Looking forward to wearing a cute outfit is a huge motivator to getting out of bed. When you want to get up early, invest in a couple outfits or even just tops that you feel great in.

As a mom, you don’t always have to come last. It is totally ok to make yourself a priority by investing in a few new pieces of clothing.

If you are a mom who struggles with mornings, try getting a few new pieces of clothing.

If you’re a mom who has always been wanting to get up earlier, it is totally possible. It’s just a matter of having some get up early tips to make it just a bit easier. Being a mom is hard work, and starting your day on your terms will make such a huge difference.

Not only will you feel better in the morning, you’ll also feel more exhausted throughout the day. You’ll get more done. And, you’ll find you actually feel good about your day when you are ready for bed.
