granola barsI had an email come in from Eve who was asking for my granola bar recipe that I spoke of here. My apologies that I have not shared that yet because these are so tasty, and your savings over time when you make your own can really add up.

I don’t have my own recipe though, I use the recipe that you can find over here.

I do vary the recipe at times. Sometimes I leave the chocolate chips out and when the recipe calls for 1/4 of extra ingredients of your choice, I have used flax seed meal or chia seeds, which both work well. Sometimes I also just add an extra 1/4 cup of the oatmeal or the rice crispy cereal.

Sorry that I have no picture from my own granola bars to show you, but I don’t have any at the moment, and I also have to rice crispy cereal to make some. She has great pictures though.

When I make these, I just cut them into normal granola bar size and wrap them each in plastic wrap. In the summer I will often refrigerate them, which helps them to hold together a bit better and also keeps the chocolate from melting so quickly when you get ready to eat them. You will want to make these, and they won’t last long either!

Frugal, healthy, tasty, easy. Can’t get much better than that!
