walk in the wordIf you follow me on Periscope or Facebook, (if not you should!), you may have read that my husband is sick right now. Like very sick. He has been in bed SLEEPING since 2:00 Tuesday afternoon after he got home from taking his final exams for this semester of nursing school. We had been looking so forward to having a couple of weeks off, both to get things done and to rest and relax, but this isn’t really what we had in mind. It’s been such a bummer. No eating, no drinking, just sleeping.

Anyhow, I don’t know about you, but we have been through the ringer this past year. Literally for the past 12 months, we have been sick for nearly half of that. I kid you not. We had several colds last summer, then we had the stomach flu start in during the first week in September, and then it hit three more times between January and April, and then of course there were colds in there, too. To some extent, sickness is expected to be part of the deal, especially in a large family, but it seems like we have an equal ratio of sick days verses healthy days this past year. It sure feels excessive.

Because I am soooo ready to be healthy, I am going to be praying over my children for their health tonight. Have you ever done this? I wrote about when my family gets sick before, in Being an Intentional Mom in the Midst of Sickness, but today the idea of praying for health is the topic of our Walk in the Word.

Today’s Verse

James 5:14-15

Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.

I am going to be praying for healing for my husband (from outside my bedroom where he has been quarantined LOL), and then I am going to be praying this verse for health over each of my children as well.

Are you healthy? Give thanks for your health today! Tuck this verse away for when you need to pray for your family’s health, too.
