I have been recording these five things to be thankful for since the beginning of the summer. It has been such a special time in my week. I think possibilities throughout the week, and then on the weekend I determine what has impacted me the most. If you have not done this, I highly recommend it. If you are along with me on the Journey to Contentment, this is the same thing as finding three things to be grateful for each day. If you are finding three things a day, you’ve got everything you need to pick your top five for the week. Feel free to share five things you’re thankful for this week in the comments.

What a crazy busy week this week. Are your kids back to school? We started in with our full school week with homeschooling so it was a different week than we have had in awhile. I love the scheduled lifestyle that school four days a week brings, though, as it makes everyone, myself included more intentional with our time.

That being said, we did make some time for some fun this week, too, however. I did find five, actually more than five, things to savor this week, and here are the five things I have loved about this week.

5 things I love this week

  • Nighttime family time. This is our time before bed, but with the long days of summer, we have strayed from this most nights over the past month or so. We have missed it so much, and it was awesome to have this time together as a family again. It is such an important way to end our day.
  • Homegrown tomatoes. Why am I thinking there is a song about homegrown tomatoes? I have no idea, but we finally started getting some from our garden area, and they have been so tasty. There really is nothing like produce you grow yourself.
  • Visiting the pool. I have two girls who are swimmers, and they have needed to get back in the water after about a month off. I would like to say that I chose to go to the pool with them, but I am ashamed to say that it was only because I had to go with them because of some crazy policy that the pool has that I actually went. I didn’t get in the water, although I love swimming laps, too, but the visits were so spontaneous that I was actually deep in my working hours at the time. I got a lot of valuable work done while also cheering on my littler ones who are perfecting their stroke and giving my older kids their swim practice for the day. I guess it was a win/win that way.

  • Blue sky and sunshine. We had four dreary, rainy, cold days for most of the week, so when the sun came back out it was just what my soul needed on Friday. I literally just sat in the sun for about 15 minutes…eyes closed, face pointing toward the sun wishing I could just stay there forever.

  • Good friends. This week I reconnecting with some friends who I hadn’t seen in awhile, and it was so good to catch up. We talked, we laughed, we bounded ideas off each other. It was great, and it was just what my soul needed.
