As a mom to eight kids, I know what it means to be a mom on the go mom. I am always having to dash out the door. Often at the last minute. And, things take much longer than anticipated nearly all of the time whether I am sitting at a doctor’s office or waiting to pick up one of my kids from practice. Let’s face it, moms are busy!
After being fed up with these constant time wasters, I finally came up with a way that I could make the most of these times of waiting while also being able to rush out the door at a moment’s notice.
Enter, the to-go bag…and it’s perfect for moms on the go

This is a bag that I always have sitting on my boot bench, which is right by my door, packed with my essentials along with additional room for those last minute things that I use all the time.
I have one bag that is always packed and ready, and since it is on the smaller side I have a larger one within arm’s reach so I can quickly swap them out if I need to take more than the smaller bag will hold.
I cannot tell you the numbers of times that this bag has saved me from a time of wasted moments spent wallowing in boredom, yet cost me nothing on the front end since it is always packed and at the ready.
Of course what you bring in your to-go bag would be somewhat personal to you, but the generic items I share here will give you a great start to having some of the commonly used essentials ready to go.
This is the smaller of the two bags, and it is the one that I always have packed since it is the bag that I use most often. I literally don’t go out the door without it. I even take it to the gym because if I don’t, I will somehow get stuck in a traffic jam for an hour or something.
My smaller bag is always packed with the following:
- sticky notes
- smaller sticky notes
- book that I’m reading (not pictured)
- planner (not pictured)
- flags for marking pages
- computer (not pictured)
Here it is packed and ready to go
These are the things that you will always find in my bigger bag:
- all of the above items from my smaller bag
- additional work
- blogging planner
Here is the bag all packed, which can be done in about one minute
The simple art of having a bag of things to keep me busy packed and ready to go right by the door has been so overly worth it I cannot even put it into words. This is essential in maintaining my sanity as a busy mom on the go!
