So I was planning on doing the homemaking challenge that Crystal is running over on Money Saving Mom. Although the challenge started on Monday, a migraine basically took me out for Monday, Tuesday, and some of Wednesday, so I started today 🙂

Yep. That’s the way life goes sometimes. So, if life happens to you, rest assured, it happens to me, too.

Anyhow, the first day of the challenge was to be spent in the kitchen, cleaning. So this is what we did for part of the day today.

You might think pictures would be a nice touch here, and I couldn’t agree more. However, you will have to click down there on my Instagram feed to see them since I didn’t even think about not being able to get them from Instagram to my computer to put them with the blog post.

Sorry about that. I think my brain left the building at about 2 p.m. today, if you know what I mean.

But the kitchen was a group project for most of us this afternoon, which made it go quicker.

We started in all the cupboards and drawers, which is quite a job. I am blessed with a rather large kitchen, which means lots of cupboards and drawers. Nice, except when it comes to cleaning them. For this reason, we’ve got a couple left to finish on the weekend. Two hours was all we had for today.

The good news is that I just did a deep clean on my pantry about a week ago, so that is already done. I figure we’ve got an hour of work left in the kitchen this weekend. I’m sure we can squeeze that in.

There is something so nice about clean cupboards and drawers, and it is amazing what we found hiding in the back of some of the cupboards! Things that had been missing forever, like socks (?), so that was an added bonus!

These are the couple of pictures that I do have. I will share a picture of the completed kitchen this weekend when I get it finished up.

The second day of the challenge, which is tomorrow for me, is to tackle a closet. Can I just tell you how excited I am about that? My daughter’s closet is a disgrace. She does the best she can, but she just turned eight. After a summer spent in and out of bathing suits and with weather that goes from one extreme to the other in terms of temperature, it does resemble a war zone inside her closet.

Care to join in on the challenge? It’s only five days. I’ll be sharing my progress here, and you can also read more about the challenge over on Money Saving Mom.

I guess I’m into challenges lately. I think the change in season motivates us all to get up and get going!

Are you working on any projects? I’d love to hear about them in the comments!

  1. Been working on decluttering and deep cleaning here too since last Thursday when the kids went back to school. I have the boys room , upstairs hall, my daughter’s room, downstairs entryway, dining room and pantry. It is surprising how much you can get done even a little bit each day. Next starting today the last boys room, stairway and downstairs hallway and start on the kitchen. It is rainy here today you don’t feel so inspired on a rainy day plus I have a lonely little girl who is missing her brothers.Memory and Candyland coming right up. So here goes to how much gets done.It feels so good when you are done.
