pulled pork BBQ
Tangy, zippy, and with just the right amount of zest, this recipe is a crowd pleaser. I love making this when I have leftover pork from a roast since repurposing meals into something completely different is a great way to stretch the family dollar. Sometimes leftovers are hard to get rid of, but if you recreate them into a whole new dish no one will even know they were leftovers!

This doesn’t make a ton so if you are making it for a Super Bowl party or something like that you will want to double or triple the recipe. It can also be made in a crock pot, which I often do. Just cook it on low for a couple of hours since the meat is already cooked.

As written, this will make about 6 sandwiches in my house.

For this recipe you will need:

  • 3 cups cooked pork roast set aside

To assemble the sauce you will need:

  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 stalks diced celery
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup steak sauce such as A-1
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • hamburger buns
  • pickles (optional)
  • cole slaw (optional)

Sauté the onions and celery in the butter until soft, maybe 5 minutes. Add garlic and continue cooking for 1 minute. Add the remaining ingredients in the order listed and simmer for half hour.

Serve on hamburger buns. Sometimes we also put pickles or cole slaw on the sandwiches. These pair great with french fries or kettle chips with a garden salad.
