weekly spring cleaninKeeping it real. That’s how we do things around here.

This is my storage room. Pretty, isn’t it?IMG_3679

The good thing about having plenty of storage containers and bags on hand is that there is always one around when needed. The downside of this is that at least five kids have the opportunity to throw them all around, looking for just the right thing while leaving all the wrong things all over the place.

It is also really great to have a gift supply of things bought for pennies on the dollar, but the downside of that is that they all need to be stored. With so many people and so much stuff in general, all the boxes only fit one way, which makes them a pain to get into and out of. Things don’t always get put back in just the right way then, and this is what happens.

So as I mentioned here, my husband is taking the kids out of the house this week, and I will be attacking this as part of my spring cleaning project.

The other thing on my list for that day is washing the rest of the wood binds in my house. I have spoke of my extreme hatred of this task before, but with no one around to interrupt me, I can just get it done and have it done. Music (that is not Disney music), homemade latte in hand, maybe it won’t be so bad.

I am also going to file all papers that need to be filed. This is a task that never ends. I have the process started in that things are sorted, they just need to be filed. I would like to say that as a piece of paper comes in it gets taken care of right away, but I have yet to figure out how to do that. I know that the “one-touch” method is the answer, but when kids get the mail at whatever time, hubby brings home receipts and things from here and there when I’m in the middle of something, this just isn’t always feasible, so things get set aside for later.

If I figure out some magical cure for implementing this, I will let you know. But for now I will be attacking the filing in my home.

What project are you going to take on this week?
