There’s just something I love about a crisp new planner in my hands. The pages feel so good, they smell so good, and they just wait for me to live out my life on their pages.

In many ways, my planner becomes a treasured keepsake. It reminds me of everywhere I’ve been during the year and the special moments I’ve shared with others, too.

To me, a new planner is a clean slate, a new opportunity, and a special gift to do things better than I’ve done them before. It’s a chance to turn over a new leaf while keeping on with what I’ve done best in the past.

This particular planner has been like a constant companion to me because there is no way I could juggle the demands of my life without it.

And trust me, if it can keep this mom of 9 straight, it can keep your life straight, too.

planner hacks

This planner has it all – meal planning, budgeting, goal setting, and even all the tools you need to learn how to use your planner. This is all while being able to hold up to spills, being dropped in a snow filled parking lot, and even baby messes all over the cover a time or two.

Staying organized with a planner really does require the right planner and the right tools. In addition to this planner, I love the sticky notes that are the perfect daily planners and weekly planning sheets that help me keep everything straight.

As a busy mom of 9 as well as a business owner and entrepreneur, I need one planner that can get both jobs done since I need to stay organized in both aspects, yet they also have to work together.

Here are the things I find important in a planner to help me stay organized as a mom, and these are the things that will make you love your planner, too.

planner organization tips

Planner organization

How your planner is organized makes a difference. It needs to be organized and arranged in a way that makes sense to you. Even if you’re using some of the pages in a different way than they are intended, having your planner organized your way means you’re more likely to use it.

planner organization ideas

Blank space

You need plenty of space to jot things down in your planner. And for this, you need extra space. Whether your planner has some completely blank pages or just some simple lined pages, or plenty of room in the margins, having a planner with blank space is important.

Non dated planners work best

With a planner that comes without dates on it, you can start your planner whenever you want. I love the flexibility that this planner HERE offers because I can start my planner in whatever month I want simply by putting the monthly tabs where I want them.

Simple to use

If it takes me more than 15 minutes to use it, I just won’t. Again, all the tutorials that my favorite planner offers along with it makes it super simple even for me to use.

Monthly planner

A great planner will have a monthly spread in my opinion. This makes it super easy to keep track of all your appointments and important events in a month without having to flip through the pages.

Weekly and daily planning pages

Weekly and daily planning pages in your planner will allow you the room you need to add in more details about your life. I especially love having a planner with hourly time slots to use each day, like this.

Durable

Let’s face it, as a busy mom and business owner, I need a planner that can stand up to my busy life. The cover needs to be durable, the corners need to be reinforced so it can easily be thrown into a bag, purse, or luggage, and the pages need to be think enough so that my favorite pens (you can find them HERE) won’t bleed through the pages.

Pretty

Yes, your planner should be pretty. It should be something that you feel just a bit special using. It’s not something your toddler scribbles all over, rather, it’s something that is just yours. It’s something that makes you feel like a grown up. The prettier your planner is, the more likely you are to want to use it!

planner organization

Staying organized in the midst of a busy life is never easy, but having the right tools for the job is key. And, this planner is just what busy women and moms just like you need. Having a planner you love can give you more time, and they can help you create and manage a life you love.
