Cherry Chocolate Chip Valentine’s Day Cookies

Cherry chocolate chip cookies are the favorite around here. Made with real chunks of maraschino cherries and cherry chip cake mix, your family will LOVE these! They are a Valentine’s Day tradition, which is why I’m sharing them with you now.

Actually, these cookies are a favorite of mine since I have a love affair with maraschino cherries – just ask my mom about the time I opened the jars and drank out all the juice when I was a kid. My young self determined that if the cherries were still in the jar, it wouldn’t be that noticeable that I had decided to drink all the juice, right?!

This is the recipe as I make it for my family, which means that yes, this is a double batch already. This means that if you follow this exact recipe, you will have almost five dozen cookies!

Trying these cookies could be a great weekend project, and I promise, these will not disappoint!

For this recipe you will need:

  • 2 boxes cherry chip cake mix
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 jars maraschino cherries cut into pieces, reserving the juice to add into the recipe
  • 1 bag chocolate chips

Put all ingredients together in the mixer except for the chocolate chips and mix well. Then add chocolate chips and mix together briefly.

Put teaspoonfuls onto a tray lined with a silpat about 2 inches apart. This is the one I love! Just click on it!

Bake in 350 degree oven for 9-10 minutes. Yields nearly 5 dozen!
