Oh my goodness.
This cleaning hack for cleaning blinds meets all my criteria for several reasons.
It’s super quick
easy enough that others in the family can help out
Doesn’t require taking the blinds down because although that method works, mine are IMPOSSIBLE to get down without a two person effort and perhaps just a wee bit of fighting between my husband and I. So, that way is just no good.
I have tried this cleaning both my wood blinds and my faux wood blinds this way twice now to be sure that it really is as awesome as I thought it was the first time.
Actually, I think it is even awesomer (yes, I made up this word) after the second try.
If you want to clean your blinds in no time flat and without hassle and fighting with your spouse, you will LOVE this method.

Wanna know the secret weapon for cleaning your wood blinds?
Here it is:
Yes, it’s a sock!
And other than water, this is really all you need for this project!
To clean your blinds, first, get your sock wet
Now, you’re ready to actually start to clean your wood blinds!
Next, start attacking your blinds. The beauty is that you can wash BOTH side of each blind slat at the SAME TIME!
This will save you so much time! In my mind, this is what makes this one of the best cleaning hacks ever! As a busy mom of 9, I am all about saving time.
Third, admire all the dust and grime you are cleaning off your blinds
Ok, so this is kind of gross. I swear, they get this dirty in just a couple of weeks. At the same time, nothing makes me feel like I have a clean home more than when I have clean wood blinds.
If your blinds are really dirty…
You may have little bits left behind as shown below if they were really dusty as mine were. Then, quickly swipe over them a second time, which goes super quick!
I think aside from being able to do both sides at once, it’s really cool that you don’t even have to take the sock off your hand to rinse and wring it out.
You can do all of that with the sock still on your hand!
It is a sock puppet or an amazing secret weapon???
I guess it’s both!
If you dread cleaning either your wood blinds or your faux wood blinds as much as I do, this is EXACTLY what you’ve been looking for!
Thank you for these tips! You Rock!!!
You’re welcome. It has always been my most dreaded task so I had to come up with a solution!
We have the metal mini blinds in our motor home. Cannot take them down to clean. Will try the sick trick. Any other suggestions for cleaning as they bend pretty easily?
I would think this might be the best method if they bend easily since you are controlling the pressure on each slat since you are using your hand.
