When starting out on our frugal journey more than 20 years ago, my husband and I had no idea that it would affect our lives in so many different ways. Of course it would affect our finances, that much we knew, but we didn’t know how it would enrich our lives in so many additional ways as well.

Maybe you’re just thinking about what it would be like to be frugal. Maybe you’re wondering how to do it, maybe you’re wondering why bother, or maybe you’re wondering about how it would enrich your life.

I can tell you how being frugal has changed my life, and maybe being frugal will bless your life in some of the same ways.

1. Being frugal all these years has made us more resilient

We are more resilient to struggles. We are more resilient to the criticism of others. We are more resilient when it comes to having to be resourceful, adaptable, and being able to think outside of the box. We are more resilient during hard times, challenges, and struggles both financial and otherwise because of our frugal lifestyle.

2. Being frugal has helped us be more resourceful

I’m not sure if my husband and I would have done many of the things we have done over the years if we weren’t forced to. Having little to no extra money at times meant that we had to get creative in the ways we simply survived at times. Being frugal has taught us so much about what it means to be resourceful.

3. Being frugal has enriched our marriage

Being frugal has forced us to be a team. Being frugal has forced us to work together whether we were working toward a common goal or weathering a financial storm. Being frugal forced us to support and encourage one another when times were tough, and being frugal has allowed us to accomplish some pretty amazing things together.

4. Being frugal has taught us how to be better parents

Being frugal has taught us to be more mindful, more intentional, and wiser when it came to our finances, and these qualities spilled over into other aspects of our lives, especially into our lives as parents. Having to be frugal has forced us to be less about self and more about others, which is what is at the heart of being a parent. We are better parents because we were disciplined in being frugal for more than 20 years.

5. Being frugal has taught us to be more understanding

In being frugal we have learned that things aren’t always what they seem. People can appear to be one thing while they are something very different than that. Situations can look one way, which isn’t the right way. Being frugal taught us to be more empathetic and understanding of others, which then made us this way in regards to every aspect of our lives, not just our finances.

6. Being frugal taught us to be more giving

In being frugal, we learned the importance of giving firsthand. When going through financial hardship over the years we came into contact with so many people who gave generously to us as we needed it. Through this, we learned of the power we can all have in giving generously to those around us. We will forever look at giving to others differently than we would have because of being frugal. Not to mention the fact that being frugal has given us the means to give more abundantly as well.

7. Being frugal gave us the opportunity to bless others

Through the things we’ve learned we now have so much to share with others. Many of these things were things I wrote about in my book, and everything I have learned about being frugal and exactly how I did it are what is included in my e-course. I wouldn’t have these things to teach and share with others who are looking to be more frugal had I not embraced this lifestyle in my own journey first.

8. Being frugal deepened our faith

I am a Christian, and it is through God’s strength that we were able to accomplish the things we have accomplished over the years. Being frugal forced us to fully rely on Him when we had nowhere else to turn when facing devastating financial circumstances. Being frugal made it perfectly clear that it is He who will supply all our needs. We knew this, but through our frugal journey we truly learned what this means and have internalized it.

If you are looking to enrich your life, this next part is for you…and it’s pretty exciting!

I am convinced that I have been given the experiences that I’ve been given surrounding our finances so that I could share what I’ve learned with others. Helping others achieve their goals in life and regarding their financial picture is my greatest desire. We have been able to do things that several others told us were impossible, and I am here to encourage and inspire others to do the same.

For this reason, I have decided that for the entire month of July, I am slashing the price on my e-course by 25%.

July is right in the middle of the summer when the days are more leisurely, the days seem longer, and the month just seems to hang on forever…in a good way.

Because I find July to be the best month to tackle projects, I am giving you the opportunity to get on your way to accomplishing financial greatness in your own life at this reduced rate. I don’t want anyone who needs the information I share to miss out, and I find July is the best time to do just about anything.
