What’s your why? What is the reason that you do the things you do? In day one, this is what I am taking a close look at….want to join me?

This is such an important question to ask in regards to your work life, your home life, your family life, your spiritual life, and more.

Similar to having a mission statement, knowing your why gives you purpose. Defining your why gives you a target to shoot for. Knowing your why means that you can decipher what to say yes to and what to say no to.

Here we are on day one of the Make Over Your Mornings course, and I find myself wanting to more accurately define my why.

journey

Do you ever find that your motivation wavers during the day? Do you find yourself eager to face the day and tackle your projects early on but then fizzle out as the day goes by? Do you want to live with intention but are unsure of exactly how to do that?

Part of my why is to live with purpose and intention, which doesn’t mean that every day is packed to the brim since scheduling rest and time to renew myself are also part of what it means to live with intention in my life. Living with purpose and intentionality means that the things I choose to do are in line with my mom mission statement. If you need help creating one, there is a chapter devoted to that in my new book.

I love the saying that says, failing to plan is planning to fail. It really is such an age-old truth full of so much wisdom. I find that when I don’t have a plan, my days are just not very efficient, productive, or fulfilling. I also find it exhausting to try to plan things on the fly, or to just take life as it comes at me, which is what it feels like if I’ve not anchored my day with a plan.

Planning means that I can accurately see where and when I can multitask, when I will need help from others, and how at times I need to say no to certain things or even certain people.

While creating a morning routine that is efficient is no guarantee to having days that run smoothly since we all know that life just has a way of happening, having a morning routine that works is the way that you will have the best chance of experiencing days that are of your choosing, rather than having days that just seem to pass you by.

With the holidays fast approaching, this idea is even more essential than ever before. If your holidays are anything like mine, you will appreciate having this course under your belt.

Tomorrow, on day two, we really dig in. Take the time today to determine your why. Define your mission statement. Decide who your why is for – if you’ve got a family – I’m guessing they’re part of who your why is for.

Once you’ve done these things, you’ll be ready for tomorrow!
